a publisher in a congregation doesn't represent the watchtower organisation (due to legal reasons/insurance etc) .
they just represent themselves as individuals.
so why are publishers supposed to hand in their reports to the congregation/wts?
Amazing that JW's still have the nerve to call this cult the truth. Nothing more than a man-made religion who's niche is religious organization & adherence to legalism. The whole scam is now controlled by a a shifty "legal dept" trying to stay one step ahead of the law. "New light" doesn't come from any God, it comes straight from WTS lawyers.

I too liked that line of reasoning. Never heard it using that angle before, but it makes logical sense. However, brainwashing is usually more ingrained than logic & sense can wake up in a JW.

in the mid-90's my wife faced a bogus charge of gossiping.
the charge was based on a fleshly sister of a jw easedropping on a conversation.
we fought the charge with the elders unable to produce any credible report of the actual conversation.
I had one young bethel type hardcore opinionated elder come into my "comfort zone" with some of his personal nonsense. After he slammed his hand down on my coffee table, because I did not agree with him, I kicked him out of my house and ask him if he wanted to take it out into the yard.

further to my enquiries here about the red cross, and also in noticing the autralian financials posted in this thread by jwleaks, i took a look at the uk financial statements helpfully posted at jwleaks here.. there is a lot of good information related to the income and expenses of the wt in the uk over a number of years.
well worth digging into if you are of a business mind for sure.
i will focus on the 2011 statements, found here and here since there seems to be two, one for the watchtower and one for the int'l bible students.
The words Watchtower Society and charity should never appear in the same sentence together, unless the words "NOT a" is between them. The tax free status enables the WTS to be a cult that is subsidized by at least 99.98% of taxpayers who disagree with the WTS's kooky teachings. It is well time to withdraw the Watchtower's tax free status.

This cult is getting more and more two-faced in it's kooky teachings. Before, not many JW's never knew about the WTS involvement in investments. Now, it's pretty much common knowledge, yet they continue to spew out this kind of nonsense.
A lot of good people are going to take a beating tomorrow from jealous JW's who now have ammo to make snarky remarks and gossip about them, simply because they have some savings, investments or a good job. Hopefully, some of these people will be insulted enough to leave the cult, and quit making donations to the WTS.
Only a warped cult would be crazy enough to bite the hand that feeds it, but after all.....this is also a cult that shoots it's wounded.

I think the guy on the right end use to be Grandpa on the old Munsters TV series.
i gave the talk last week on the meaning of the memorial emblems in the 'b' school.
